Baccalaureate Program Overview
The Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) program is designed to broaden career opportunities for students and better their chances for promotion to supervisory positions. The program is designed to provide a career-ladder for students who have already completed an associate degree and who wish to continue their education at the bachelor's level. Additionally, for beginning students interested in designing a program of study for the bachelor degree as early as the freshman year, the baccalaureate degree program is an especially desirable career option for Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree graduates of Midland College.
The students in this program were prepared for entry-level jobs by their A.A.S. degrees; the upper-division major classes expand their perspectives of business operations. The coursework requires an understanding of different facets of enterprise operation including accounting, legal issues, technology and human resources. The final two semesters require students to synthesize and apply what they have learned to risk management and organizational issues in particular industries . Elective courses are available in public administration, banking, leadership, international business, oil and gas industry, network security management, electronic commerce and entrepreneurship.
The Bachelor of Applied Organizational Management program content will build on the necessary management and career specialty skills required in the workplace or through previous academic coursework. Upper level bachelor courses are designed with the working student in mind and will be offered in traditional morning and evening classroom formats. Full-time faculty with several years of practical experience and advanced degrees teach upper level courses. Coursework will incorporate internships, seminars, and other practical real-world learning activities designed to ensure students acquire the latest technical competencies and managerial applied content. Students will receive the full range of articulation and transfer rights guaranteed by Texas law through common course numbering and the statewide articulation agreement.
